Im happy and I know it....

Well today is Friday and I'm not excited about garage sales, I'm excited because I'm going to the biggest thrift store, that I know of.
I'm jumping up and down in the inside. I'm also making it a day with my mom and without kids, which makes it so much better and exciting. I keep thinking that I'm gonna score big but I cant have big expectations, I'll find what I find. So my plan is, purses and wallets first, then the bags, I don't know why but I'm hoping to find a Longchamp purse, I doubt it but where this thrift store is, its a pretty richy town, so you don't know. Collect them all together and then go thru them one by one and put back what I don't want. After the bags, I want to go check out the baggies of stuff and then the clothes. I think instead of looking thru every piece of clothing just look for new tags. I think brand new stuff would sell great. I have to keep in mind and look thru all the sizes, they say having more than one size helps your sell more. Plus keep my eyes out for Victoria secret Pink, that always seems like a big seller.
Is it weird I plan out what I want to do and what I want to look for before I'm even there? I feel like I overthink this way too much, but if I want to make this a business for myself and a way of income then I have to make sure I look at everything and know what I need to get. What's cool too is my Aunt has a bag full of clothes, I heard brand new, for me to sell. That will be fun to look thru.
So stay tuned and I will update on what I buy.
Happy Thrifting tomorrow.

I really need this selling on Poshmark to work. I know I've said it over and over again, but I'm hoping that if I say it more and more than it will definitely work. I just need to stay positive with this whole thing instead of always second guessing it and then turning it negatively. I've always been one to stress over money. My husband and I live basically pay check to pay check, like most middle class families, which is what I consider us to, anywhere where I can contribute to makes me feel great. I have student loans that I don't expect my husband to help me with, its my responsibility and I'm doing anything I can think of to contribute to those payments.

I need more fatith......

I have talked so much trash about the thrift stores in my little town but I seem to find something worthy every time I go.
Today is Monday morning and everything I have read they say go to your thrift stores Mondays after garage sale weekend. After getting to Goodwill today I went straight for the purses(like always). They seemed to have more and different ones and I looked over every rack but couldn't find anything. I checked out the wallets and nothing. I thought to myself maybe I should check the purses one more time and right about the time I was gonna give up I saw a purse with a familiar looking tag. As I looked closer it was a Dooney & Bourke. A cute small O ring purse. It was clean inside and it definitely had the older looking vintage tag inside. I was so excited and I was positive they where gonna have a high price tag on it. It was only four ninety nine. YAY!!!! I was almost sure that I wasn't gonna find anything but boy did it. Two Dooney & Bourke purses seventy two hours, both purses under ten dollars and both vintage.

So what have I learned today? Have an open mind about any and all thrift stores. I think tomorrow I'm gonna drive up to the next town and check out their Goodwill.

This one is going on Poshmark.

I almost have three hundred followers and I have about thirty items and I want to keep adding more.

Great Finds.....

Today was a pretty good day for bargain shopping.
I've been putting together some inventory for selling on Poshmark and today I scored a few pieces of clothing but found two items at really great costs.
I found what looks like a vintage Dooney & Bourke handbag. Its totally cute, I have never seen anything like it before, very original and it only cost me two bucks. At the same garage sale I also found a pair of cowboy boots(which I have wanted a pair for myself) for only a dollar...I'm keeping those.
There where some other fun odds and ends but nothing I was going to resell, I kept everything else.
Last night I was looking thru Facebook and someone was selling a real cute, clean, and very fashionable Coach purse and it was only ten bucks. So I met up with her and it was mine. I couldn't believe how clean it was. The leather was flawless, no nicks, or scratches and super clean inside.
Two designer purses in one day for under fifteen bucks, not too shabby.
I have to say I have been scoring with purses at garage sales lately.
I don't know why but I just get so excited when I find something in value, especially a name brand item. When I saw that Dooney purse today and asked how much it was, I swear I thought she was gonna say like ten bucks(I probably still would have bought it) but when she said two dollars I had to control my excitement on the outside because I was jumping up and down in the inside.

After this morning I got busy taking pictures of all my items I was planning on selling and I just finished posting everything. I don't want to get overly confident on this selling stuff, but everything I read and hear it can be successful, so fingers crossed. There's a gal I sort of know that does it so I thought about getting in touch with her and asking her questions.

I just feel like I found something for me. For the longest time I have been looking for something for this stay at home mom and I truly think I found it. I was starting to loose faith and to be honest I started getting bored. A few years ago I got into a huge stage of depression and had really bad anxiety, I mean I hardly ever left the house. My husband was a saint and did everything. But with help I have started feeling like myself and doing this and my signs, I'm just a giddy school girl.

Now having a good inventory under my belt for reselling, I need to focus on my signs. I got craft fairs coming up and I just need to sit down and start making signs so I have a good amount of inventory for that as well.

I'm on cloud nine, I'm so happy with everything I'm doing and if you could see me now my smile is from ear to ear.

I got a garage sale tomorrow and if I find anything I'll be back.

Happy thrifting.....

To thrift or not to thrift???

That was the question this morning.
For the past couple of days I just wasn't feeling so well. My body hurt and the last thing I wanted to do was walk around a store. I couldn't concentrate. But this morning I woke up and I forced myself out of bed and out into the world.
I wasn't gonna stop by Goodwill but I thought what the hell. Once I was inside I made a B line to the purses which for our Goodwill there where a lot to look thru. There where a couple cute ones, I think a leather one(I couldn't find a tag) but nothing I don't think I could make money on. So I directed myself to the wallets. I usually never find anything worth buying but today I scored. I spotted a polka-dot, black and white wallet with this unusual name tag on the top. I picked it up and it said Marc by Marc Jacobs. NO WAY!!! It was marked for $3.99. Give it, it is a little dirty, but I think I can clean it up and sell it for twenty. Why not?
I looked thru the purses again and found this cute green messenger bag from Gap, very clean. I picked it up because it looks kind of vintage and its a crossbody and big. So well see.
I made my way to the clothes and I started think how do you start looking for clothes to sell. I figured I'm a large so look thru that and I would think larges are a more common size to sell. I found a Tommy Hilfiger pink shirt, clean.
So I scored a little haul today and I am happy with it.
I don't feel like I need to buy a lot right now(especially in the stores) but I should at least build up my inventory. Today is Wednesday so I have a few days till Saturday(garage sale) day and hopefully I can find more, for cheaper there. That's my goal. Find as much as a I can this weekend and build up my inventory that way.

On another subject, I'm praying this works and I can make a good amount of money with selling on Poshmark. Being a stay at home mom with school loans I need to find a way to make these payments. My sign business is ok but it doesn't cover my monthly payments. I'm not relying on this to make my millions but hopefully enough to make payments.

The itch....

I get a rush when thinking about garage sales, thrift shopping and or anything to do with a bargain. Its not the kind of rush when you find something on sale at Macy's or Nordstrom's, its the rush of finding a Coach purse at a garage sale for three bucks, or a FREE Michael Kors purse on someone's driveway. Im definitely not your typical girl shopper. I don't buy expensive makeup, I usually buy wet n' wild, or elf, not MAC or anything expensive. I don't buy expensive clothing. The most I will ever spend on clothing is something at Ross. But, when the time is right I can find deals at garage sales for clothing, kids cloths, purses and anything else you would spend regular price for at any store.
Those are the highs I get when I am thrifting. Its the surprise of it all, the hunt, the unknowing. It just sends a rush over me that I cant explain. I know it sounds weird...….totally weird but I enjoy it.
When I was younger I loved garage sales but I always cared if someone I knew saw me, or knew that I wore thrift clothes instead of the latest designer jeans. It seems like now people like the vintage looks and the older clothes and where else can you find those at, besides at thrift stores. So I guess what I have been doing for a long time is now normal.

When I get this itch I just wished I lived in a bigger city. Like I have mentioned I live in a not so big town that doesn't have too many resources of thrifting items. I rely on garage sales more than anything but the season doesn't last too long. I have one Goodwill about three minutes away, a Hospice Thrift store that doesn't hold a lot of luxury items and that's about it. The biggest town is an hour away South and it has a lot, but driving an hour there, shopping for a few and then an hour back doesn't sound appealing. They aren't the greatest stores either but they're definitely better than here. The best place to go is where some of my family lives and there's a Savers there. But unfortunately that's two and half hours away. I don't go there very often but I would like to.
So for now I'm gonna press on with selling on Poshmark and selling anything I can find worth selling. That brings on the thrill, the HUNT. I never know what I will find.

Garage Sales today.....kind of a dud today

Hello thrifters,
Well today was Saturday and my garage partner(my mom) and I had a list we thought would be great. But to be honest it wasn't, not like last week.
The deal of the day though was a woman's, light weight, black, Carhartt jacket for $5 dollars. They go for around $100. I've been looking for a light weight jacket that wasn't a hoodie, or a zip up sweater and I love this one.
I found a real cute plastic platter with blue fish on it from Pottery Barn, for only fifty cents. Its always nice to have platters around for parties or whatever and this is perfect.
I found a real leather off brand purse that's a crossbody and it holds a lot and that was two bucks.
So I didn't spend too much today which is always good and excited for what I found but there is always next week which I look forward to.

I started thinking after finding cheap, name brand purses and other things for so cheap, I want to re-sell this stuff. I tried here locally and it goes ok but I don't think I would get the best results if I where to sell everywhere. So I started looking around and looked at eBay and Amazon and those where just too complicated for what I need to do. Then I thought of Poshmark. I have bought a few things from the website and never had a problem.
I got into researching it and OMG, it is so easy and I started thinking I can really make some money from this. It all ties together things I like, from thrifting for the good stuff and then wanting to turn around and sell it. In one of my lasts posts, I found a Marc Jacobs purse at a garage sale for two bucks, well I started looking for what they go for on Poshmark. I saw some from between $160 to $50. I can totally do this!!!
Im gonna start collecting things around my house and start posting. I have name brand wallets, and jewelry and clothes I can sell and make money. Cause God knows I need to be bringing in some money for my family.

My husband works full time and does everything to support myself and our three boys and I love him for it. We make it work. We live paycheck to paycheck but we make it work. But for my sake I want to do this, I want to be bringing money in. Its a self respect thing. I have a small business making custom wood signs and I love that as well. I love being creative and working with my hands and this business is perfect for me, I just want more. I have orders pretty steadily but its not like I make a fortune. I would love to expand this more and that's what I am trying to figure out. So if I do something like reselling on Poshmark I think I can contribute more.

Stay tuned....

Almost Saturday

Today is Friday and tomorrow is Garage Sale day.
Right now I don't see too many out there but in my little town people always seem to wait till the last minute to post things, or drive around looking for posters.
I was thinking about driving down a little south to the bigger cities around us but I don't know if I want to drive make another drive since we drove last weekend.
So stay tuned I will give you a whole run down of what I find.

$$$ Store

Today I took a box of clothes to Goodwill and I had to go inside and look. The one thing about thrift shipping and garage saleing you just don't know what you're going to find. Well today wasn't great. The purses there are always so cheap and sometimes just gross. Stains or broken handles or rips. Not for me.
I never really look thru the clothes unless I'm on a mission for something particular. I like looking thru the figurines and little house hold stuff just for something different. I have found a particular pottery at my store that is pretty well known in my town and that's always cool. But usually its just junk.
There has only been a few times where I scored on something big and or had a big haul.
On the other side of thrift shopping and garage saleing I love shopping for a bargain. I don't like going to stores and spending a fortune for a shirt when I could go to Ross and spend way less for everything.
But the one store that I love to shop at just because of the prices and you can find name brand stuff there, is Dollar Tree. I love the Dollar Tree. You can buy most things there and I love buying stuff there that is disposable like party supplies. You can get plates, napkins, silver wear, banners, party favors for around twenty dollars. If you where to go somewhere else you probably would spend double that. I get toothpaste there, kids snacks, cake mixes, puppy snacks and so much more. The biggest thing I like there is that I can get a lot of craft supplies there. Not tons but there are things I spend a couple bucks for instead of spending way more.
Its only Tuesday, still awhile till the weekend.

I'm Back.......

Its been awhile since I last "Blogged" and I thought I would be back with a new idea.
Since I last wrote my life has been pretty boring. Two of the three boys are back in school, I still have my sign business(that I love), my husband works full-time and goes hunting on the weekend, we hardly see each other anymore and my oldest wants to join the Marines(So Proud). See nothing too exciting, I don't know how to make my life as a stay at home mom interesting. Plus I see so many things on Facebook about moms raising boys and what I read, that's my my life. What's new to report??
So I started thinking of something new, something I could share my finds, or thoughts, or whatever and one thing came to mind that I LOVE to do, is garage saleing.
I love a good bargain. I love getting things for cheap instead of paying full cost in the store, I love finding name brand things cheap, I love the thrill of the find. I love to thrift.
Garage Sales every weekend with my mom is the highlight of my week but during the week its thrift stores anywhere I can find one. Saturday mornings are my favorite though. I wake up around eight, get ready like normal with the kids and I get to my mom's house around nine and then we start the sales. We usually go to as much as we can and for the past couple years we get picky. We know this town pretty well, we know where the good houses are or the NOT so good houses are. Depending on where we are we drive, we check it out with a drive by and we either stay or go. Sometimes we find the best and sometimes its a wash. Just this past weekend we started Saturday thrifting in the town south of us and I found a Coach four sided picture frame for five dollars. So cute and when I got home I looked it up and they go for over fifty dollars. SCORE!!!!
Sunday there where a few around town and we stopped at one in a pretty good area, that we actually visited before and I found a coach purse last time. This time I came across this vintage, brown, old looking bag and after I picked it up I looked inside and it was a Michael Kors. NO WAY!!!! I made sure the little serial number was in there and sure enough it was. I later went back and bought a Marc Jacobs red purse because at the time it didn't register to me the name. I bought those two purses for four dollars. The red one I looked up later and they where going for a hundred dollars on eBay. NO SHIT!!!!! I was in heaven. I decided to keep the brown Michael Kors because I had to clean it up and its a little worn. I just love the look because it looks real vintage.
But that's the stuff I look for. Our Goodwill and thrift stores around where I live aren't so great. I find things from time to time but never where I'm blown away. Garage Sales seem to be a little better then the stores.
Now the Garage Sale season is dwindling down so I will have to rely on the stores. But one thing I've been thinking about is selling the things I find worth selling on eBay or Amazon or Poshmark. Im just scared to do so. I don't want to screw up on something. I mean I try to sell my stuff around my town and some other towns but I don't feel like I am very successful with it. I'm going to do some research and maybe start it soon.
There is one thing that I really want to try but again my small town doesn't help, I want to dumpster dive. I watch these videos all the time and the stuff they find, I cant believe people throw away. I don't really have the area around here to do this because everyone knows everyone, so in a way its kind of embarrassing. So I have to pick my areas carefully.
So its only Monday and it sucks I have to wait five days till Saturday, the cool thing is there is supposed to be this big church sale somewhere south of me so we might go there. The garage sales get better and better the closer to the big city we get. I wont see garage sales posted around my area until about Thursday or Friday or even Saturday. So now I just save my money, don't spend so much this week so I have money this Saturday.
Thrift to you tomorrow.
